Utah reports 173 fresh COVID cases

In the United States, on Thursday, Utah reported 173 new cases of COVID-19, the sixth day in a row and the eighth time in the last 11 days that the number has been below 200.

On Thursday, the cases have been increased 78 times more on January 14, from the time when the daily cases had been reported as 13,521.

Moreover, the maximum number of people getting affected by the COVID-19 infection in the previous has been recorded as 156.

On Thursday, the Utah Department of Health has observed five additional casualties, and since the pandemic has started, the total death in the overall state has been reported as 4,556.

Along with this, the maximum number of individuals that has been admitted to the health care centre has been recorded as 156 by comparing the data of the hospital admissions has been decreased by 16 on Thursday. Around 29 patients were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), which has also been reduced by five people.

According to the Utah Department of Health-UDOH, around 72.7 per cent of Utah’s ICU beds are occupied, falling short of the 85 per cent threshold that healthcare providers say is required to have adequate rooms, equipment, and personnel to treat new patients. COVID-19 patients account for 7.7% of all ICU patients in the state.

On the other hand, on Thursday, the Utah National Guard has declared that they were going to end its COVID-19 Joint Task Force mission, which was started in March 2020.

Furthermore, the Brig. Gen. Darwin Craig, director of joint staff for the Utah National Guard, mentioned in the statement, “It has been an honour to work alongside the emergency managers and local health departments to serve the citizens of Utah.”
