US records first case of Bird Flu: Officials

United States: A highly contagious strain of the bird flu that has taken the lives of about hundreds of the birds as well as has been spread all over 24 states has been reported in the human being for the very first time in the United States of America, according to the officials.

The officials mentioned that on Thursday, April 28, the infection is spreading gradually among people all over the world, which is also known as H5N1.

Moreover, the state’s health department mentioned in the statement that the man was working on a commercial farm in Colorado, USA. He was also involved in culling poultry suspected to be infected when he was directly exposed to H5N1 flu.

As per the department, the man who has been infected by the avian flu has been stated as younger than 40-year-old. He has been reported with one symptom, including fatigue and was taking the antiviral drug Tamiflu.

Along with this, the agency stated that a positive test administered this week by the state health department, which mentioned that it had been monitored individuals exposed to poultry as well as wild birds, was confirmed Wednesday, April 26, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The state department shared the information that the man was a prison inmate who was working at a Montrose County farm as part of a pre-release employment program.

The state health agency, as well as the CDC, asserted on Thursday that the risk the virus poses to individuals still remains low.

In addition, public health officials have been worried that a mutation could present a threat to humans. Only one other human case has been detected in the entire globe.

The CDC said that a human being who had birds in the United Kingdom had tested positive for the virus in December. The person was asymptomatic.
