23 shot, 5 fatally in weekend violence in Chicago, says CPD

United States: Around 23 people have been shot, and approximately five fatally in the weekend violence in Chicago, according to the police officials.

The police officer mentioned in the statement that a man was killed in a West Englewood shooting on Sunday night. The 20-year-old man was in the 1200 block of West 72nd Place at around 7:44 p.m. when a man in an SUV fired a shot.

Moreover, later the victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds to the head as well as was pronounced dead. There was no one in custody, and Area One detectives are working on the incident and they are investigating.

Hours earlier, after the incident took place, the police officers stated that a woman had been fatally shot in South Lawndale. She was of 27-year-old who sustained a gunshot wound to the left armpit in the 2300 block of South Trumbull Avenue at around 12:48 p.m. as well as self-transported to Mt. Sinai, where she was pronounced dead.

Along with this, the circumstances surrounding the incident remained under investigation. No one was in custody as well as the Area Four detectives were investigating the crime scene.

The Chicago Police Department said a child was shot on Chicago’s Southwest Side on Saturday night.

In addition, the shooting took place at around 8:43 p.m. in the Little Village neighbourhood, as per the police. A 12-year-old was on the sidewalk in the 3300 block of West 21st Street when two male offenders fired shots, says the police official.

Furthermore, later on, the child was transported to the Stroger Hospital in good condition by the Chicago Fire Department with a gunshot wound to the right ankle. There was no one in custody as well as Area Four detectives were working on the case.
