Chicago: Four people sustain gunshots in Loop overnight

United States: In Chicago, four individuals were shot in the Loop overnight on Monday right on Ida B Wells Drive. 

As per the police officials, there were some of the victims had several gunshot injuries. 

Moreover, the police officials mentioned in the statement that gunfire erupted just after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday nearby South Wells as well as Van Buren streets in the Loop. 

There were three victims, including a man and two women, who were inside a Dodge Durango stopped during the red light when two unknown men fired shots from the sidewalk, according to officials. 

Along with this, the driver of the Durango then went to the nearby Stroger Hospital as well as dropped off the two female passengers for the treatment. One of those females was in critical condition. 

Afterwards, the police officers stated that the driver had left. 

Illinois State Police with him in Maywood and discovered him with a critical gunshot injury from the shooting. 

In addition, a 26-year-old woman who was passing by the street in the Loop was also hit by a shot in her left leg. Currently, she is stated to be in a fair condition. 

The Police were also probing a bullet hole in a nearby office building at 425 South Financial Place, but they have not checked if the damage is connected to the shooting. 

One of the workers of Loop named Josh Schnurman, “It’s terrible to hear. It’s really shocking. The city is a great place to come and live as well as work, & we want peace.”

Meanwhile, the police parking for work on Tuesday morning near the scene is disappointed to hear about another violent incident downtown as well. 

However, Brian Chadwick mentioned that he still feels safe coming into the Loop. 

Chadwick said, “It’s safe during the day but at night, things change, and, you know, the police presence in the city isn’t what it once was.”
