Colorado: 18-year-old charged for first degree murder for stabbing newborn baby

United States: An 18-year-old has been charged with the first-degree murder on Friday as she stabbing of her baby after giving birth on her own while visiting Colorado with her family, as per the prosecutors.

The mother of the child shared the information with the investigators that the baby was quiet and not moving and did not seem to breathe when she was born but declined to explain why the baby had stab wounds, as per the documents.

Moreover, in an interview with her mother, that was present, the 18-year-old mentioned that she thought that she had been pregnant but was not sure, explaining that a pregnancy test she had taken about three to four months before was negative.

A coroner determined the baby was alive when born at the home of the relatives of Cepeda in the small town of Nunn and died of multiple sharp force injuries, as per Cepeda’s arrest affidavit.

Along with this, a pair of scissors was found near the baby’s body, highlighted in the document.

It was unknown if Cepeda, who had been admitted to the hospital in Colorado since giving birth, had a lawyer yet.

In addition, she was 17 when the baby was born but turned 18 on turned 18 on Friday, Krista Henery, a spokesperson for 19th Judicial District Attorney Michael Rourke, noted.

She has been charged as an adult.

While being interviewed, Cepeda was questioned about what she thought when the baby was born, according to the arrest affidavit. “She stated she had to figure out how to tell her mom,” the investigator reported.
