South Carolina man charged for killing 8-year-old while shooting at passing vehicles: Police

South Carolina: A man from has been charged for killing an 8-year-old while shooting randomly at the moving cars. According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, he was accused of the murder after he “fired multiple random rounds at passing vehicles.”

On Saturday, May 28, the deputies with the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of multiple shots fired at cars on Old River Road in Florence, South Carolina, as the release stated.

At the same time, when deputies arrived, they found a vehicle containing two victims, including an 8-year-old passenger suffering from gunshot injuries.

The victims were taken to an area health care centre for medical treatment. However, the child was identified as Quarius Nagua Dunham, who died from his injuries. The father of the child, who was the driver of the vehicle, was struck in the leg. His injuries were not so severe, which could be, according to the authorities.

Along with this, the mother of the child was also in the vehicle, but she was not injured.

As per the reports, the family from New Hampshire were in South Carolina for a vacation.

The authorities identified the suspect as Charles Montgomery Allen, and he was located a short time later by a Florence County SWAT team. In addition, he was taken into custody following a “brief standoff” at his residence, as per the release.

However, he has been charged with murder has, attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The Sheriff’s Office news release highlighted that “no motive has been determined for the shooting.”
