Ohio: 10-year-old rape victim crosses state to terminate her pregnancy, says police

United States: The police officials from Ohio have confirmed a 10-year-old rape victim crossed states to terminate her pregnancy, according to the sources.

Afterwards, the Supreme Court of the United States of America struck down a legal right to an abortion on Wednesday, a case that garnered much attention.

President Joe Biden recently emphasised the girl’s suffering of travelling to nearby Indiana for the medical procedure as he signed legislation aimed at assisting women seeking abortions.

After the nation’s supreme court overturned decades of constitutional protection for the right to stop a pregnancy, Ohio enacted Trigger legislation the previous month that outlaws all abortions after six weeks, with no exceptions for rape or incest.

Conservative media sources and Ohio’s attorney general cast doubt on the sensational case and questioned its credibility.

However, according to the Columbus Dispatch, Columbus, Ohio, police investigator Jeffrey Huhn stated in court early on Wednesday that the unnamed girl had an abortion in Indianapolis on June 30.

Regarding the article, Huhn was giving testimony at the arraignment of a guy who was detained by police on Tuesday and who they claim admitted to raping the youngster.

The Dispatch said that in addition to this, Huhn also informed the court that DNA samples taken from the Indiana clinic were being compared to the 27-year-old suspect.

Court records in Franklin County, Ohio, show that 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes was charged with raping a child on Wednesday.

The horrific incident, which was initially published by the sources, has also gained attention internationally and turned into a flashpoint in the bitterly contentious debate over abortion rights in America.

At the July 8 ceremony when he signed legislation protecting reproductive rights into law, Biden mentioned the Ohio rape victim and encouraged Congress to codify Row v Wade, the 1973 decision that established the constitutional right to abortion worldwide.
