Former Central Ohio school superintendent charged with kidnapping 2 children

United States: The authorities in West Virginia detained a former central Ohio school superintendent who allegedly attempted to kidnap two children into his car this month.

The 59-year-old William Morrison in West Virginia was charged with two felony counts of kidnapping in contact with an incident that occurred on August 17.

The police officials mentioned in the statement that a boy and a girl, 12, were approached by a dark-coloured Subaru Forester. The man inside the car, later recognised as Morrison, lured the young one inside the car after offering them USD20 each to babysit his 4-year-old kid for him, according to the information.

Along with this, when the car approached an intersection, Morrison asked the question the boy to get out to look for and inspect the tire. After he exited the car, the man drove off along with the girl inside. As to the court, that boy cried and screamed, fearing that he was going to die.

The girl inside the car started crying and begged Morrison to let her out of the car, which he did not comply with. Once she began to cry, Morrison increased his offer from $20 to $100, as per court documents.

In addition, the 12-year-old was able to open a passenger door and exit the car. Neither the child was hurt during the incident.

After gathering vehicle and suspect information, the detectives conducted about two search warrants at Morrison’s residence in Huntington as well as at an apartment in Barboursville, West Virginia.

Moreover, Morrison was later detained by authorities. He might face more charges, according to the police.

Morrison served as the Hamilton Local School District’s previous superintendent. During a traffic stop in west Columbus, authorities discovered a crack pipe and cracked rock in his car, leading to his termination in 2017.

Morrison entered a plea of guilty in court to charges related to the possession of a fake controlled drug. He received a 180-day sentence, 176 of which were suspended.
