Hawaii couple to remain in jail until mystery about stolen IDs gets solved

United States: The allegations that a Hawaii couple stole the identities of dead babies for unknown reasons unique, a United States judge mentioned on Monday, upheld a previous ruling to detain the pair without bail.

As per the prosecutors, the names of the couple have been identified as Walter Glenn Primrose and Gwynn Darle Morrison, who has been fraudulently living for decades under the stolen identities, Bobby Fort and Julie Montague. The prosecutors stated that Primrose spent more than 20 years in the Coast Guard, where he obtained secret-level security clearance.

The United States District Judge Leslie Kobayashi mentioned in the statement that the mystery behind why the couple lived under allegedly stolen identities for so long makes the case unique: “Because the real question is, why?”

Along with this, Primrose and Morrison have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, false statements in a passport application and aggravated identity theft. The prosecutors have suggested the case is about to identify theft.

A search was executed in the couple’s home in Kapolei, a Honolulu suburb, which turned up Polaroids of them wearing jackets that appeared to be authentic KGB uniforms, as well as an invisible ink kit, the documents which were with coded language as well as maps showing military bases, according to the prosecutors.

Moreover, the Defense attorneys for the couple have stated that they took a picture wearing a similar jacket years ago. Further, the jacket was not found in the couple’s home, but had been turned over to authorities by someone else, says the Assistant Federal Defender Max Mizono, who represents Primrose, during an argument that the Russian spy theory doesn’t add up.

Furthermore, Mizono noted, appealing a magistrate judge’s detention order, “The lack of ownership of Mr Primrose and the possession of the KGB uniform even more robust supports the inference that he as well as his co-defendant are not, in fact, spies from Russia and that the pictures of them are more akin to wearing a costume or dressing up in a costume, engaging in cosplay, or the like.”
