USA: 2 killed, 3 injured in Washington mass shooting

United States: Another mass shooting took place in the USA, where at least two people were killed and others were injured in northwest Washington, D.C., on Wednesday afternoon. 

The incident occurred about 12:50 pm local time, at the corner of O Street N.W. and North Capitol Street, north of New York Avenue. 

Moreover, the Washington Metropolitan Police Department released an image of a vehicle suspected to be involved in the shooting on its Twitter handle. 

Along with this, the police department of Washington shared the Tweet, in which they noted, “MPD is seeking assistance in locating this suspect vehicle in connection to the shooting that just occurred in the unit block of O Street, N.W.”

The car was a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, which was black in colour. It is believed to have Virginia temporary tag 956515X. 

Moreover, the people that were injured were taken to the health care and wellness centre for treatment. All the victims were adults. 

A probe has been launched into the matter. An initial investigation determined that about two suspects exited the SUV in front of a building and started shooting with semi-automatic fire guns. They fled the spot after the shooting. The Executive Assistant Cheif of Police Ashan Benedict mentioned in the statement that it appeared to be an open-air drug market. 

In addition, in the second incident within hours in the United States, four teenagers were wounded in a drive-by shooting near a high school in Chicago. An identified person in a passing SUV reportedly opened fire at a group of people outside La Michoacana ice cream shop near Carl Schurz High School on the Northwest Side.
