50 migrants sent to VP Kamala Harris’ house by Texas Governor Abbott

United States: After two buses transporting asylum seekers arrived at Vice President Kamala Harris’s Naval Observatory house from Texas earlier this week, fifty additional migrants gathered outside her property in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

About 50 migrants were dropped off at the Vice President’s Naval Observatory mansion on Saturday following a lengthy bus travel from Texas, according to Renae Eze, press secretary for Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Abbott claimed to have delivered migrants in two buses to Harris’ home on Thursday.

At the time, he tweeted, “We’re sending migrants to her neighbourhood to call on the Biden Administration to do its job as well as secure the border.”

While there is a surge of migrants at the southern border, Abbott and other Republican border state leaders have been diverting migrants to Democratic-led towns for months. They claim that this is a protest against President Joe Biden’s immigration policy.

This week, Abbott and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis intensified the ruse by dropping off around 100 migrants outside Harris’s mansion in Washington and on Martha’s Vineyard, an island south of Cape Cod where former President Barack Obama has a property.

The White House and Democrats expressed fury over the actions, claiming that the politicians were using immigrants as political pawns. The actions attracted national attention. Republicans have applauded the action and said that more needs to be done to safeguard the border by the Biden administration.

Democratic MPs said they had no previous knowledge of the refugees’ impending arrival.

According to Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, the state has already granted the refugees free transportation from Martha’s Vineyard to a makeshift shelter at Joint Base Cape Cod.
