United States: More than 30 children tests positive for monkeypox virus

United States: Over 30 children have been tested positive for monkeypox in the United States of America, as per the sources. The data from the Centers and Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that at least 18.417 individuals have tested positive for monkeypox in the ongoing outbreak all over the country.

The young ones below the age of eight are more vulnerable to developing severe illness if infected with monkeypox, and the CDC has alerted them.

The state officials mentioned in the statement, “11 U.S. states as well as jurisdictions have reported monkeypox cases among young ones.”

Along with this, the symptoms include lesions which usually begin within one to three days from the onset of fever, lasting for about two to four weeks and are often described as painful until the healing phase when they cause itch.

The CDC and the World Health watchdog have asserted that there is no proof that monkeypox is a sexually transmitted disease, as well as anyone, can test positive through prolonged close contact.

In addition, the infection has been identified in about 50 states if the United States, with California and New York topping the chart with 3,291 as well as 3,273 infections, respectively.

Two days back, the state reported the first death of a person diagnosed with monkeypox. The unidentified person died in Harris County, the Texas Department of Health and Human Services expressed in the statement.

Monkeypox cases have also been found in Florida among children, as per the officials. The health department mentioned three children below the age of 14 have tested positive for the infection as well as the cases have been reported from Brevard Country, Martin and Monroe.

As per the World Health Organisation-WHO, over 41,600 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in 96 nations, including at least 12 deaths. The United States of America has identified the maximum number of infected people.
