America confirms around 17,000 cases of monkeypox virus

United States: America has confirmed about 17,000 cases of monkeypox virus, as per the new data shared by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-CDC.

On Friday, in the entire nation, a total of 17,432 monkeypox cases were reported, according to the sources, citing the CDC data.

In New York, there are the most cases, with about 3,124, and in Florida, with 1,739, as per the CDC data.

Along with this, the United States of America has the highest number of monkeypox cases in the entire world.

The monkeypox cases are still increasing nationally, and the speed of the outbreak appears to be slowing, said the director of CDC-Rochelle Walensky.

The America stated that the monkeypox vaccines could be made available to the public as soon as September, as per the reports.

In addition, the Biden administration has been facing criticism in its response to the monkeypox outbreak, including failure to order enough vaccines, speed treatments and make tests available to head off the outbreak.

According to the sources, “We should have been able to contain monkeypox virus, it was found early as well as already had tests, effective treatment as well as, a safe vaccine against the infection. But a chronically underfunded public health system, often lacking even basic supplies like testing swabs and syringes and depleted by two-plus years of the COVID-19 pandemic, failed this most basic test.”

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-CDC announced monkeypox as a public health emergency in the United States. Wyoming was the last as well as the most recent state in the United States to report at least one monkeypox case.
