Canada to ease away border rules related to COVID from Oct 1

Canada will ease away all of the border rules which are related to the COVID-19 pandemic from October 1, according to Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos.

As part of the change, foreign travellers will not be needed to submit proof of vaccination or testing documents on arrival. Further, the quarantine policies will be scrapped.

The Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra mentioned in the statement, “We are able to do this because…Canadians…got vaccinated.”

Over 90 percent of the people from Canada, more than 12, have been vaccinated.

The mask compulsory will be lifted on trains as well as planes. The authorities of Canada would also longer require passengers to have pre-board tests for cruise ships.

The COVID-19 restrictions could return, and the health minister stated that the government was prepared to reinstate rules if needed.

Along with this, Duclos asserted, “Obviously, we have no hope to reintroduce some of these measures, but if we need to protect the safety of Canadians, we will have to.”

The nation has passed the peak of the COVID infection, as well as aviation and travel industries have been pushing the government to relax the rules and regulations.

The majority of the European nations, such as Germany, had eased entry restrictions related to COVID-19 before the summer travel season began.

The United States of America still requires foreign nationals to be vaccinated when entering the nation. No change in the mandate was expected in the USA in the near term.

From the start of this year, cross-border truckers organised a “Freedom Convoy” against vaccine mandates in Canada.

The horn-blaring demonstrators targeted the Canadian capital city, Ottawa, as well as other parts of the nation, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoking emergency powers to quell the protests.
