California teacher detained after she was caught hiding teenager for 2 years

United States: A teacher at a public school in California had been hiding a teenage kid who had been missing for two years was detained late last week, as per the police officials.

According to a statement from the Rancho Cardova Police Department, Holga Castillo Olivares, 61, a teacher at the Alice Birney Waldorf-Inspired K-8 School in Sacramento, was detained on Thursday when it was found that she was concealing Micheal Ramirez, 17, in her house.

When Ramirez was 15 years old, his parents reported him missing in June 2020. Ramirez was last seen at his Rancho Cardova home on May 18, 2020, according to his relatives, who spoke with KCRA. According to the Rancho Cardova Police Department, Ramirez was reported missing on June 9, 2020.

The former friend’s mother, who was residing at the Ramirez family’s house for two months, was identified by the local news source as Olivares.

Ramirez “inexplicably” came home in March of last year, nearly two years after it was reported that he was missing, according to a statement from the Rancho Cardova Police Department.

Following a “thorough investigation,” according to the police, Olivares was accused of holding a minor and encouraging juvenile delinquency.

The Sacramento City Unified School District issued a statement claiming that the employee was “taken into custody at the school after kids were released for the day” and that “the charges filed are for activities unrelated to the employee’s assigned job.”

Additionally, she is on administrative leave while the school system looks into the matter.

On October 24, Olivares is due in court.
