Philadelphia reports gunfire, injures 3 SWAT officers, suspect killed

United States: Gunfire broke out in North Philadelphia early on Wednesday, leaving three SWAT officers injured and a suspect dead.

Around 6:30 a.m., it took place in the 800 block of North 10th Street, close to Brown Street.

A guy was sought for murder, and police were serving other serious charges with a warrant. Raheem Lee, 19, was the suspect, according to police sources.

Lee allegedly shot at cops through a window and a door.

Deputy Commissioner John Stanford stated that “officers were able to proceed to penetrate the premises where they took on further gunfire from this guy.”

The cops were struck at that point. Two police officers were shot: one in the hip and the other in the leg.

After ricocheting off his vest, a bullet struck the third cop in the upper chest. Although he had a severe contusion, the bullet apparently did not penetrate.

When the perpetrator tried to escape through the property’s back, according to police, he opened fire on the SWAT officers who were posted there.

Six police officers at least exchanged gunfire with the man, hitting him in the head.

Just after 7:30 a.m., Lee was brought to Temple University Hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

One of the cops who was struck reportedly drove himself and his partner straight down 10th Street to Jefferson Hospital for assistance, according to Action News.

He was heard on police radio stating, “Let them know I’m wounded in the hip, my buddy is injured in the leg.”

Both the cop who was shot in the hip and the officer who was struck in the chest received medical attention before leaving the hospital. The cop who was wounded in the hip was sent home with the bullet remaining inside of him, according to what we’ve heard. Before attempting to remove it, doctors will wait for the swelling to subside.

The cop who was shot in the leg is still in the hospital. The cop is being detained overnight for monitoring since, according to the police, the bullet passed through his leg.

Lee was allegedly wanted for a murder that took place in the 2600 block of West Berks Street on Sunday, August 21, at around 2:46 a.m., according to sources in the homicide unit.
