Veteran, Alison Russo-Elling killed in random incident in Queens

United States: A 25-year veteran, Alison Russo-Elling, of the FDNY, an on-duty EMT, was stabbed to death in a random incident in Queens on Thursday. She was 24 years old.

Lieutenant Alison Russo-Elling was planning to retire in the coming six months to spend more time with her daughter as well as grandchildren.

She was attacked nearby her station house, and the distance was less than a block away. She was one of the first responders at Ground Zero after the 9/11 terror attacks.

Her colleagues were stunned after they heard the news of her sudden death. They expressed their grief by noting, “Dedicated her life to saving others.”

New York City lost one of its heroes.

The official New York City Fire Department expressed condolences at the death of Lieutenant Alison Russo-Elling, who was stabbed and killed while working at EMS Station 49 in Queens. They noted, “Eric Adams and Acting FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh today announced the death of Emergency Medical Service Lieutenant Alison Russo-Elling, a 25-year veteran of the Department.”

All of the employees of FDNY stated, “We stand with our FDNY family & all New Yorkers as we mourn this terrible loss.”

Eric Adams, as well as Acting Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, announced the death of Emergency Medical Service Lieutenant Alison Russo-Elling, a 24-year-veteran of the FDNY who was stabbed and killed Thursday afternoon while working at EMS Station 49 in Queens.

Also, she has worked at multiple EMS stations, including Station 20, Station 17, Station 16, Station 45, Queens Tactical Response Group as well as Station 49.

Lt. Russo-Elling was a World Trade Center first responder, aiding in the rescue as well as recovery efforts. In addition, she is the 1,158th member of the Department to make the Supreme Sacrifice while serving our city. The last person or member of the Department to die in the line of duty was Firefighter Timothy Klein of Ladder 170 on April 24, 2022.

Lt. Russo-Elling was 61 years old. A Long Island resident, she is survived by her daughter as well as her parents. Wake and funeral information is pending.
