United States donates 1,00,350 Pfizer COVID vaccines to Nigeria

United States: United States delivered 1,00,350 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses from the United States that arrived in Abuja through the COVAX facility, bringing the total number of COVAX-provided and U.S.-facilitated vaccines contributed to Nigeria to over 32.6 million doses.

The assistance with service delivery, logistics, and multi-channel communications to address vaccine hesitancy has helped Nigeria reach over 43 million citizens with at least one dose and to fully vaccinate more than 27 million.

The United States Government is proud to support Nigeria’s SCALES campaign to reach 70% of eligible Nigerians with safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines.

Between 2016 and 2020, the number of children in child labour globally increased from 152 million to 160 million. Of the 160 million, more than 72 million live in sub-Saharan Africa, according to the International Labor Organization.

U.S. Embassy Press Attaché Robert Gabor joined Nigerian Fact-Checkers’ Coalition Conference participants in Abuja on September 6 to consider ways to address misinformation and disinformation in the media and online. Robert challenged the idea that we live in a “post-fact world,” noting that, while people like to feel they are right, “they don’t like to be manipulated – they want the truth.”
