Chilly and damp weather continue to surge in United States

United States: Chilly and damp weather will continue through Tuesday, with rain chances tapering off west-to-east during the day Tuesday. According to the US National Weather Service Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley Texas, the temperatures will still be below normal, but it will gradually warm through mid to late week.

Moreover, another cold front is expected to reach the end of the week but it will only cool down temperatures slightly as well as will not be as strong as the past few cold fronts.

Also, on November 19, strong wave energy from the east pushed water to or just into the dunes, such as narrow beaches, overcoming a relatively low predicted tide cycle.

The powerful push of wave energy will continue through Monday, November 21, before the waters gradually recede. Unfortunately, the pounding surf for several days will flatten the slope of the City of SPI beaches, as well as run just into the dunes at narrower beaches north of town, “calving” some of them.

Along with this, the Island had avoided erosion events through the peak of the hurricane season and the King Tide window (late September-early November), but this gale event is causing trouble.

Gale Warnings are in effect for all coastal waters till at least midnight on Sunday, November 20, with Small Craft Advisories likely to follow early in the upcoming week.

On the other hand, a chilly night is coming up in the next week. The winds will make temperatures feel like the mid-30s to 40 degrees. Make sure to check on the heaters or space heaters as well as take a jacket or sweater if people are going out.

How to prepare:

  • Bring out the jackets and sweaters.
  • Check heaters/Space heaters to ensure they are in working order.
