United States: Embassy of Belgium in the United States of America highlighted the positive impacts of Music, and stated that it is the art of sound that expresses emotions and ideas.
“Music is an international language that breaks down barriers as well as opens doors. Today, we are enchanted to celebrate the long-standing partnership between the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium and The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC,” stated the Embassy of Belgium.
Violist Miguel da Silva, exceptional talents from the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, and eminent members of the Phillips Chamber Society have joined Embassy officials at the Belgian Residence after their exceptional Brahms chamber music concert in DC.
According to the information, “Franco-Swiss musician Miguel da Silva’s passion for string quartet led him to launch the Ysaÿe Quartet with 3 of his friends. As a solo player or with his quartet, he performed at the greatest concert halls worldwide. Miguel da Silva is a Master in Residence in the viola and chamber music section at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium.”
While highlighting the era of Music, Embassy stated that, “Along with this, the exceptional musical personality of the Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe (1858-1931) has inspired generations of musicians. The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, inaugurated in 1939, is the fruit of Ysaÿe’s reflection on musical education that Queen Elisabeth, as a patron of the arts, helped shape. Moreover, Queen Elisabeth was Queen of the Belgians from 1909 to 1934 as the spouse of King Albert I.”
Located in Waterloo, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is a training centre of musical excellence (piano, violin, cello, viola, chamber music and voice) where exceptional young talents from around the world learn from leading artists through masterclasses, but also by sharing the stage together.
Furthermore, after 80 years, the Music Chapel has spread its activities in the United States, mainly in Washington, DC and New York.
