Weather: US to witness chilly conditions and cold days

United States: The former Charlotte Observer weather writer Steve Lyttle shared the information on Carolina weather. There is a chilly day ahead and even colder late in the week.

He shared the information through his official social media account and mentioned, “Today will bring just enough cold (and a chilly breeze) to get you in the holiday spirit. But even colder air awaits us at the end of the week.”

The latest computer data indicates that temperatures will struggle to climb above freezing on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day won’t be a lot better.

As for snow … the current thinking is that we’ll have the old cold-chasing-precipitation pattern Friday morning, as the storm system moves away and the cold front rushes through.

In other words, rain will fall Thursday and Thursday night, and much colder air will arrive Friday morning.

At the tail end of the storm, Friday morning, temperatures might get cold enough for rain to change to snow for a brief period. Typically, this type of situation brings some conversational snow flurries and not much more.

It’s the cold that we’ll probably will affect us a lot more next weekend.

TODAY: Sunny and cold, with a chilly breeze at times this afternoon. High of 47.

TONIGHT: Clear and cold, with a low around 25.

MONDAY: Sunshine, mixed with some high clouds in the afternoon. Cold again, with a high of 47.

MONDAY NIGHT: Becoming cloudy, with a low near 30.

TUESDAY: Overcast, with one or two showers in the afternoon, as a weak storm system passes to our south. Chilly, with a high of 47.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Any showers will end by early evening. Then it will be cloudy, with a low of 33.

WEDNESDAY: A mix of sun and clouds and chilly, with a high of 47.

THURSDAY: Overcast, with a few showers in the morning and another period of showers beginning in the evening and lasting overnight. High near 50.

FRIDAY: One or two left-over showers in the morning, possibly changing to snow before ending. Then sunshine will return, but it will turn cold and probably breezy. High of 42.

CHRISTMAS EVE: Sunny but very cold, with a high of 33.

CHRISTMAS DAY: After a frigid start, with lows in the mid and upper teens, we’ll have sunshine. But it will be very cold again, with a high around 35.
