Carnival Mother’s Queen show returns to Dominica Carnival

As part of this year’s Carnival celebrations, the Carnival Mother’s Queen show will be back, according to the official Dominica Festivals page. Five people will compete for the throne at the event, offering Dominica’s rich cultural history. Cadesher Charles of Marigot, Mesha Carbon of Boetica/Laplaine, Nacheal Walsh of Mahaut, Emmanuela Jervier of Pointe Michel, and Nisha Prosper of Morne Jaune/Castle Bruce are the candidates. The show will take place on February 11, 2023, at Carnival City, and additional information on the Carnival Calendar of Events may be found on the official Dominica Festivals website.

This month will also witness the Calypso semi-finals and the Mother’s Queen show. In this competition, calypso performers will fight for the title of Calypso Monarch 2023. The semi-finals will be held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium forecourt in Carnival City on February 4, 2023, at 8:30 p.m. The competition can be attended by purchasing standing tickets for 50 XCD and sitting tickets for 60 XCD, or it can be streamed live for 20 XCD.
