Guyana: Tourism Ministry hosts welcome ceremony for British Airways inaugural flight

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce collaborated with the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Guyana and hosted an official welcome ceremony for British Airways yesterday on Tuesday evening, 27 March 2023.

As per the update, Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill confirmed the update and stated that the official flag carrier of the United Kingdom, British Airways, officially initiated flight operations to Guyana, and the flight operations stopped in Saint Lucia.

The officials of Guyana took to their official Facebook account and shared some scenes from yesterday’s night official welcome ceremony at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport that was conducted in the inaugural British Airways flight into Guyana.

They added that they provide signals for the start of twice-weekly flights from Georgetown to London via Saint Lucia on Mondays and Thursdays.

Furthermore, Many international media publications have boosted their coverage of Guyana’s immense tourism potential and tour operators such as Trail Finders have also started offering holiday packages to Guyana since the flight’s announcement.

As per sources, Colonel Field first stated that all systems were in place to welcome British Airways’ first flight to Guyana. The airways announced entering the Guyanese market in August 2022, soon after the tickets went on sale. He also explained that the approved route for the new airline would be from London to Saint Lucia and then to Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).

Moreover, They extended that the team at the Guyana Tourism Authority was present on time and was ready to distribute branded tokens to the incoming passengers.
