Margaret Mensah Williams, Namibian Ambassador to the United States and a prominent South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) member, met with Diana Nelson and Ian Wallace on Wednesday, 15 March 2023.
During the meeting, Namibian Ambassador Margaret William, Diana Nelson and Ian Wallace spoke about the creative industry in Canada & Namibia, and their discussions were very insightful and impactful.
Additionally, Ambassador Margaret Williams, Diana Nelson and Ian Wallace shared notes on similarities that will lead to fostering growth in the creative industry. Their discussions centred on the ways to encourage exchange and collaboration among the industry players while leveraging tax credits for local and international productions and co-productions.
By appreciating Canada and Namibia’s film production, Ambassador Williams stated, “Both Canada and Namibia have incredible scenery for film production.”
Namibian Ambassador Margaret Mensah Williams also stated that creating and fostering equal collaboration in the production markets of the creative industry can be profitable. It would lead to developing economic areas that benefit all citizens and facilitate the exchange of expertise between the two countries.
Moreover, Nambian Ambassador Margaret Mensah Williams met with the Senior Director for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, Ms Shannon Marie Soni, on the same day.
Furthermore, Ambassador Williams shared her experience and entitled the meeting a “Hybrid”. Meanwhile, Ambassador Williams and senior director Ms Shannon Marie Soni held a hybrid meeting where she and her colleagues discussed the issues of immigration, refugees and Citizenship in Canada.
Ambassador Williams said the meeting was conducted in a facilitative and highly productive atmosphere.
Ambassador Williams took to her official Facebook account and expressed her eagerness to participate in future discussions alongside Senior director Ms Shannon Marie Soni.
One of the Namibian social media users, Ursula Matthysen took to comment section to glorify the work of Ambassador Williams and commented, “Keep up the good work! My Magga!!”
While another social media user Nicky Sibalatani congratulated the Ambassador and the people of Nambia and quoted, “Congratulations Namibia will never be the same.”
