Saint Lucia: Johnson Charles, a 34-year-old West Indies cricketer born in Saint Lucia, has surpassed Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest T20 hundred by a Caribbean citizen. During a match versus South Africa, Charles scored an astonishing 118 in just 46 balls yesterday at the Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion, South Africa.

Charles struck 10 fours and 11 sixes in the 39 balls it took him to reach his first century. Cricketers from all across the world, including David Miller of South Africa and Rohit Sharma of India, praised his remarkable performance.
