Saint Lucia: Soufriere Events Management Organization to host Jazz Festival on May 7

Saint Lucia’s Soufriere Events Management Organization (SEMO) and Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) will collaborate to host Soufriere Jazz on May 7, 2023, at the Soufriere Mini Stadium after a seven-year hiatus.

The event’s official launch took place on Saturday. During the virtual launch, SEMO announced the lineup for Soufriere Jazz 2023, which includes Chazz, Arthur Allain, Semi Francis, Christopher Martin, Patrice Roberts, and Ronald ‘Boo’ Hinkson. The highly anticipated event will delight locals and visitors alike with Saint Lucia’s cultural music.

SRDF Chairman Sam Augier invited people to experience the welcoming atmosphere in Soufriere during the Jazz weekend, saying, ‘Soufriere, in and of itself, is an experience that no one should miss out on. There is no way Saint Lucia can have a major activity like Jazz and not make Soufriere critical in the whole thing because people love this experience, they love to party, and the festival will feature the cultural music of Saint Lucia.’

According to sources, Soufriere Jazz is one of Saint Lucia’s most significant events, making a huge comeback after its last iteration in 2016. Its main aim is to celebrate the culture of Saint Lucia, bringing together musicians of different genres to improvise and create unique performances.

Soufriere MP Emma Hippolyte emphasized the event’s importance to the community, especially small businesses. With over 200 Airbnb rooms listed in the area, Jazz’s return is crucial to support the local economy.

Overall, the event promises to be a joyous celebration of community spirit, music, camaraderie, and family togetherness.
