Portsmouth, Dominica: On May 24, 2023, Sports Division Secondary Schools U-15 Cricket Championship Final was played at Benjamin’s Park, a venue in Portsmouth, Dominica, between Castle Bruce Secondary School and Dominica Grammar School.
CBBS successfully managed to win the U15 Championship by successfully chasing the target of 54 runs given by DBS and scoring 139 runs in their first innings. With a lead of 85 runs, they were declared winners of the under-15 Boys test Cricket Championship.
The match begins at 10:40 AM; CBSS won the toss and elected to bowl first. In the first innings, Dominica Grammar School only scored 54 runs as wickets continued to fall. The bowling attack of CBSS didn’t allow DBS batters to make a prolonged partnership and set a big target to defend.
From DBS’s side, Ackel Rolle was the top scorer with a contribution of 22 runs for their team, more than 40% of the total score. Like the previous matches, multiple and early wickets for CBSS’s bowlers.
Damian Frederick was the leading wicket-taker from Castle Bruce Secondary School. He dismissed four batters of Dominica Grammer School by giving just twelve runs. Earsinho Fontaine and Dylan John completed the job by taking the remaining wickets, preventing them from setting a big target for CBSS.
During the batting, The Castle Bruce Secondary School scored 139 runs by losing three wickets, already achieving the target and picking a lead of 85 runs. Aiden Burton was the top scorer, as he contributed with 60 runs. Earsinho Fontaine scored 31 and Dlyan John 29*, who remained not out until the match was over.
CBSS won in 1st innings and was declared champions of the 2023 Secondary Schools Under 15 Cricket Championship. It was a comfortable victory for Castle Bruce Secondary School as their previous match. They dominated every team throughout the tournament. They lifted the trophy and celebrated their victory.
