Dominica: Travel blogger shares glimpse of Boiling Lake & Titou Gorge

A travel blogger named SV Londer recently hiked the boiling lake in Dominica, shared his experience on social media, and highlighted the site’s unique features. He noted that he and his mates made a last-minute decision to check into Dominica and hike the boiling lake.

The travel blogger emphasized that it was the most challenging and longest hike he had ever done, a total of 7.6 miles and over 4500 feet elevation—probably the hardest for Jeff as well. “I was always the last one in the group. A six-year-old girl from BC hiked way better than me”, the blogger wrote on his social media.

The SV Londer described that the site was so beautiful and everywhere you looked was hard to define, and it was a truly unique experience.

The Boiling Lake is a flooded fumarole found in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a World Heritage Site on the island of Dominica. It is located 6.5 miles (10.5 km) east of the capital city, Roseau.

The lake is filled with greyish-blue water that bubbles and is often surrounded by a vapour cloud. It is about 200 to 250 feet (60 to 75 m) wide and is the second-largest hot lake globally.

After hiking all day, the blogger and his team swam in Titou Gorge, filmed in Pirates of the Caribbean.

One of the most memorable scenes in Pirates of the Caribbean features Titou, where Captain Jack Sparrow tumbles down a gorge while trapped in a vine cage. If you go for a swim up the canyon, you’ll come across a beautiful oasis with emerald waters and a clam, surrounded by the sounds of chirping birds and rustling trees.
