Dominican Alick Athanaze speaks to CWI media after successfully winning the three-match ODI series against UAE. He made it clear that he is looking forward to debuting in Test cricket at home in the Nature Isle. From July 12 to 16, West Indies will play a test match against India at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica.
Alick Athanaze delivered a record-breaking performance by scoring fifty in just 26 balls in his debut match. He became the fastest player in the ODI format to score fifty on its debut match, surpassing India’s Krunal Pandeya.
He scored 65 in 45 deliveries, ensuring Windies’ victory by scoring almost half of the total score. While talking to CWI, Athanaze remarked that he wishes to play a test match against India as it was a dream come true moment for him if he was included in Windies’ test squad.
Athanaze is yet to appear in the T20 format, but he showed a tremendous interest in Test Cricket following the upcoming match against India at Windsor Park.
India recently lost the World Test Championship final against Australia from June 7 to 11 at The Oval, England. Still, it will be a big challenge for West Indies to face Men in Blue due to their strong batting line-up and lethal bowling attack.
The India tour of the West Indies will begin from July 12 to August 13. During the schedule, two test matches, three ODI’s and five T20 matches will be played in the Caribbean.
