St Kitts and Nevis vs USA: Host team seals dominating victory by 6-0

Missouri, USA: St Kitts and Nevis losses another match in their maiden campaign of CONCACAF Gold Cup. Yesterday, on June 30, 2023, the second group stage match was played between USA and St Kitts and Nevis at Citypark Stadium in St Louis, Missouri.

The defending champions dominated St Kitts and Nevis by scoring six goals. The Yanks played a full attacking game in the first half in order to take an early lead and pressure the opposing team.

Keeping ball possession and fully attacking football gave USA four goals in the first half. Dorde Milhailovic scored the opening goal, which came in the 12th minute. Two minutes later, Bryan Renolds took the ball in St Kitts’ nets, doubling the lead in the 14th minute.

It was almost impossible for St Kitts and Nevis’ football team, known as Sugar Boyz, to stop the Yankees from scoring. The third goal came in the 16th minute. In the duration of six minutes, the host team and defending champions scored a hat trick.

Jesus Ferreira, the Columbian-born playing in the US football team, scored another goal in the 25th minute, making the score 4-0 and unleashing utter dominance over Sugar Boyz. Later, he completed a hat trick in the 50th minute.

Speaking about the overall performance, the USA took 34 shots during the game, with 15 shots on target. St Kitts and Nevis, on the other hand, took only two shots, none of them hitting the target.

The USA demonstrated the importance of ball possession in football, which benefited them in sealing a comfortable win with a huge difference. Dorde Milhailovic, the opening goal scorer, scored another goal in the 79th minute, completing his brace and pushing the score to 6-0.

The dominating victory ranked the USA on top in Group A, with
four points. St Kitts and Nevis suffered two losses in their first Gold Cup campaign. On matchday three, July 3, 2023, the Sugar Boyz will confront Jamaica, who defeated Trinidad and Tobago yesterday by 4-1.
