Gold Cup: Trinidad and Tobago scores seal victory over St Kitts and Nevis, 3-0

Florida, USA: Trinidad and Tobago triumphed over St Kitts and Nevis during the group stage match against St Kitts and Nevis by 3-0. The match was played at DRV PNK stadium in Florida, USA.

It was a historic moment for St Kitts and Nevis as they qualified for the first time in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Unfortunately, their first match in this tournament didn’t go well, as they lost to Trinidad and Tobago by 3-0.

Twenty-four shorts were taken during the match, 14 by Trinidad and 10 by St Kitts. The Soca Warriors have better pass accuracy and teamwork than the Sugar Boyz. They hold 66% ball possession, presenting better footwork and passes than St Kitts and Nevis.

The Soca Warriors made 540 passes in the match, demonstrating fundamental football skills and successfully combining each other. Making quick passes helps them control the ball and unlock stubborn defences with fast-flowing moves and combinations.

They played a passing and defensive game, slowly breaking the opponent’s defence and scoring goals. Trinidad and Tobago scored two goals; the third came from an error made by St Kitts’ Jameel Ible in the 73rd minute. It was counted as an own goal.

St Kitts and Nevis fans were disappointed by their team’s performance in their maiden Gold Cup match. It was the first time the Sugar Boyz qualified for CONCACAF Gold Cup.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, St Kitts and Nevis defeated French Juiana on penalties 4-2 to qualify for the Gold Cup. It was a historic moment for the twin-island federation.

The 3-0 loss dropped St Kitts and Nevis to last in group A standings. Sixteen worldwide teams are participating in this tournament, divided into four groups. Group A includes Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica and USA.

With a significant triumph over St Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad moves to the top of the group, followed by Jamaica and the USA with equal points.
