Trinidad and Tobago: Guns, Narcotics Taken off the Streets by Eastern, Western, and Central Cops

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Guns and narcotics were seized overnight by officers in Central, Eastern and Western policing districts during an anti-crime exercise. The Central Division Task Force officers conducted an anti-crime exercise in Freeport and Couva Police districts overnight.

The officers received information that led them to an open lot along Roopsingh Road, Waterloo Road, Carapichaima, where they found a plastic bag containing 17 clear packets of Marijuana with a total weight of 105 grammes. Officers also discovered a firearm with 15 rounds of .22 ammunition in another plastic bag.

On Saturday afternoon, the Western Division Task Force officers conducted an exercise along Upper Nile Street, Cocorite, on an unoccupied lot of land. The officers searched the area and discovered ten plastic-wrapped packages on the ground, concealed under heaps of dried leaves.

The items were taken to the station for processing. The packages were inspected and found to contain six kilogrammes of Marijuana.
On the Eastern side of the island, officers of the Matura Police District were on mobile patrol around 6.10 pm yesterday when they received information.

A party of officers proceeded to 11 Mile Mark, Toco Main Road, Matura, in the vicinity of New Road, where a search was carried out in an area approximately four feet off the Eastern side of the roadway and found a black plastic bag containing a .38 revolver with five live rounds and one spent round, with the markings made in Brazil. The firearm was seized and taken to the station for processing.
