Santiago Gimenez’s goal in the last minutes brought another Gold Cup to Mexico

Santiago Gimenez, the Mexican hero, sealed the Mexican’s victory in CONCACAF Gold Cup Final by scoring a crucial goal in last moments of the game. He scored the winning goal in 88th minute, securing 12th GOLD Cup title.

Santiago Gimenez becomes a Mexican legend, winning. The El Tri are now 12-time CONCACAF Gold Cup champions, resuming their dominance in this competition. The Final game was played at SoFi stadium in California, USA, with a large crowd of Mexican and Panama fans. 

It’s quite heartbreaking for Los Canaleros, as Panama remains runner-up for the third time. Before 2023, Panama played two times in CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2005 and 2013 against the USA. They failed to win the title both times. 

Mexico holds another record in this competition, playing most finals by a single team. The El Tri played fourteen finals and won 12 times. They were runners-up in 2021 final, defeated by the USA (1-0) at Allegiant Stadium.
