Roseau, Dominica: The Sports Division this week held its annual PE/Sports Teachers meetings. The two separate meetings were held with the secondary school teachers on Thursday 14th, and the primary school teachers on the 15th.
The schedule of activities for the new school year was discussed at the meetings. Also, there was a review of the last academic year in Sports, and reports were heard on other sporting activities in which the students participated during the previous academic year and the summer period.
The first significant activity for school sports this academic year will be the Secondary Schools Football Championship, which commences on September 29. The Independence Schools’ athletics series will commence on October 09.
The Sports division Dominica also shared numerous pictures of meetings arranged by Primary school teachers through his social media account.
The Dominica Association of Teachers invites all educators in the Commonwealth of Dominica to Castle Bruce on Friday, October 06, 2023, for the annual rally to recognize World Teachers Day. The World Teachers’ Day is observed every year on October 05.
This year, educators all over the island will gather at the eastern village of Castle Bruce under the theme: “The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want- “The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage.”
The Day will begin with an ecumenical service at the Roman Catholic Church in honour and memory of four educators who recently passed away. Teachers who retired in the last academic year will also be recognized.
The action will move to the Castle Bruce Playing field, where teachers will engage in a number of sporting activities for fun and relaxation.
The staff of the Sports Division is also paying great attention to staff development sessions with emphasis on First Aid. Mr Albert Noel conducted the session.
Staff are being exposed to theoretical and practical sessions, which will provide them with tools to be used as first responders. The workshop is being held at the Windsor Park Stadium Conference Room.
