Pottaya 10 wickets/ Ramnauth 94, help Guyana draw against Barbados

An outright win would have given them a chance to win the first-ever Regional under 17 titles. A brilliant spell from spinner Matthew Pottoya took ten wickets, and Rampersaud Ramnauth’classy 94 saw Guyana play to a good draw against Barbados to end the CWI Rising Stars U17 Men’s 2-Day tournament.

Barbados made 174 in their 1st innings thanks to 54 from Reviera Cottle. Spinner Matthew Pottoya (4-41) and Golcharan Chuli (3-34) led Guyana’s bowling.

Kevin Kisten was the lone star with 33 runs for Guyana, who were bowled out for 90 in their 1st innings, with Kyron King (5-27) and Zishan Motara (3-6) doing the damage for Barbados.

In their 2nd innings, Barbados finished on 152 for nine, led by Zion Brathwaite, who hit 60 and Joshua Branch 38, as Pottaya and Chuli picked up where they left off.

Pottaya would end with magical figures of 6-55, ending with ten wickets, while Chuli finished with a total of 6 after he chipped in with 3-41.

Guyana took advantage of the exceptional bowling to post 199-9 batting a second time. Opener Romeo Deonarain (42) and a brilliant knock from Rampersaud Ramnauth, who stroked 94, ensured the Guyanese would bounce back from their 1st inning errors and play to a draw.
