Dominica: CBBS U-15 defeated PSS by 50-0

Roseau, Dominica: Castle Bruce Secondary School U15 team got off to a flier in the 2023 Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Championship on Friday, 29th September, in game two of the doubleheader in the U15 Division at the Windsor Park Stadium.

The first half of the play was a competitive affair. Still, it was CBSS, which looked the much better team creatively, and it wasn’t a surprise when they opened the scoring from the penalty spot through Taran George to go into the interval with the 1-goal to-nil advantage.

Portsmouth Secondary School had no answer for the relentless attack of Castle Bruce Secondary School in the second half. They piled on the pressure to score four unanswered goals and ran out five goals to nil winners in a dominant display.

Taran George got his second of the match for his brace, Sherquan Gustave got 1, and Jerrel Charles also got two goals (brace) in the second half. Jayvon Hamilton was selected as PSS player of the game, and Jerrel Charles was the CBSS player of the game.

Another game was played on the same day. The 2023 Sports Division Secondary Schools Football Championship opened on Friday, 29th September 2023, with a doubleheader in the U15 Division at the Windsor Park Stadium in brilliant hot weather.

In game one, the Saint Mary’s Academy got off to a dream start by defeating the 2022 defending Champion Dominica Grammar School by 1 goal to nil.

It was a very competitive game as both teams left it all on the field of play. But it was SMA who created the most and the best chances of scoring, but they needed help. At the half, the scores were 0-0.

The second half saw SMA coming out on the front foot and getting the opening goal from the boot of Otis Nesty to send the SMA bench and supporters into jubilation.

DGS tried their utmost to come up with the equalizer, but SMA’s defence was resilient and held on for the 1 to 0 victory and an excellent result to kick off their campaign this season.

Che Etienne was selected as the SMA player of the game, while Dwight Walsh was the DGS player of the game.
