Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucian cricketers Qiana Joseph and Zaida James are part of the 15-member squad for the first-ever West Indies Women’s “A” Team tour to Pakistan from 17th October to 8th November.
Head Coach Shane Deitz and Captain Rashada Williams will lead the team, with Ashmini Munisar as vice-captain. The tour will feature three 50-over matches against Pakistan “A” and a tri-nation T20 series with Pakistan “A” and Thailand.
The preliminary matches will be held at Lahore Country Club, and the final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This is the first-ever West Indies Women’s “A” Team Away Tour, which will feature three 50-over matches against Pakistan “A.”
Ann Browne-John, the Lead Selector for Women’s and Girls’ Cricket, expressed her excitement over the upcoming ‘A’ Team tour to Pakistan, which she believes will be a valuable addition to the calendar.
According to her, this is an excellent opportunity for the developing players to gain international experience. The team comprises players who have participated in the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup and players who are just beginning to establish themselves in the Senior Team set-up, some of whom are currently in Australia for the ongoing series.
The 2nd ODI between West Indies Women and Australia Women was abandoned due to rain. The 3rd and final will be on Friday, with the series 1-0 to Australia.
