Yannic Cariah shines in T&T Red Force big win over Guyana Harpy Eagles

Yannic Cariah had a magnificent all-round display, hitting a half-century and picking up a 5-wicket haul for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force as they defeated the Guyana Harpy Eagles by 114 runs at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

T&T batted first and posted a competitive 290 for 8 from their 50 overs. Kjorn Ottley continued his good form, backing up his hundred in the previous match with 52 off 57 balls, which featured 6 fours and a six.

Skipper Darren Bravo also got a half-century, his 2nd of the tournament, as he got to 51 off 60 deliveries laced with 6 boundaries.

Joshua Da Silva and Jason Mohammed also chipped in 27 and 26 respectively, but Yannic Cariah stole the show with his sensational knock of 71 not out from 48 balls, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Romario Shepherd was impressive with the ball, taking figures of 2/43 in 10 overs, while Veerasammy Permaul picked up 2/57 in 10 overs and Sherfane Rutherford got 2/55 in 5 overs.

There were a number of starts from the Guyanese batsmen, but none of them carried on, which resulted in the Harpy Eagles being bowled out for 176.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul made 19, Chandrapaul Hemraj scored 21, Tevin Imlach got to 26, Shimron Hetmyer added 24, Sherfane Rutherford top-scored with 30, and Kevin Sinclair chipped in with 20 in a disappointing display from the Guyana batting unit.

Man of the match, Cariah stole the show again with the ball as the leg-spinner finished with sensational figures of 5/34 in 6 overs, while Sunil Narine returned figures of 2/18 in 6.4 overs.

Akeal Hosein took 1/29 in 7 overs, Terrance Hinds picked up 1/19 in 4 overs, and Jayden Seales got 1/38 in his 5 overs as the Red Force knocked over the Harpy Eagles in less than 34 overs.
