Omicron is less severe than other variants: Experts

In the United States, according to the observations of the doctors, the people suffering from the Omicron variant are not primarily affected as compared to the previous Delta variant. As per the health authorities, an Omicron patient recovers much faster than those who contracted the Delta variant.

The majority of the Omicron patients are vaccinated, but only 10% of the people have received the booster jabs. However, the third vaccine dose supports fights against the new variant of the COVID.

In the middle of December, 90% of cases recorded at the Houston hospital were of the new COVID variant.

Dr James Musser of the Houston Methodist Research Institute and the staff shared the information as per to which there were 862 patients of the COVID-19 that were treated at the hospital facility between the time period from November 27 to December 18.

The Omicron infection is growing throughout the Houston metropolitan area, and it has become the reason for the 90% of new COVID cases.

It is not yet declared in the research before that the Omicron was less infectious. Scientists have used the milder word for the Omicron variant. Although the symptoms of the variant are minor, people who get affected by this infection are in large number and getting hospitalized. The healthcare workers in the facilities are also testing positive for the new COVID-19 variant.

Omicron still remains a significant threat worldwide. As per the reports, the vaccination provides protection to the individual from the illness caused by the Omicron variant, helping to keep their immunity strong.

As per the data, worldwide, around 58.9% that is approximately 4,592,057,259 individuals received their first jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas the figures of fully-vaccinated individuals are 49.8%(approximately 3,882,369,039).

Meanwhile, globally, around 6.7% per cent that is (approximately 5,21,064,621 individuals are immunized by receiving their booster shots.
