Over 3000 flights have been cancelled due to recent spike in COVID-19: Reports

Over 3000 flights have been reportedly cancelled in the U.S. due to the increase in the COVID-19 cases, by which there is a lack of crew workers in the airlines and the extreme weather condition in the Atlantic.

According to the information provided by FlightAware, over 3,000 flights have been called off, and 5,600 are postponed in the United States. However, 4,700 flights are cancelled globally, and 12,500 flights are delayed.

The tourists face issues while travelling to places, as they are stuck far away from their homes. The people have shared their problems related to travelling on social media, as the people have misplaced their bags, they have been waiting for the services while standing in queues for a long time. One of the travellers said they do not have any place to rest, so they are sleeping in the airports and have no idea when to reach their destination.

According to the figures provided by Johns Hopkins University, the Omicron-new variant of COVID-19 is highly transmissible and further leads to the spreading of the cases. The number of patients is continuously rising.

Apart from this, the airline officials are trying to motivate their staff by providing them perks to get back on the work, but they are not able to work due to the devastating condition. The United authorities are paying more to the pilots so that they can boost themselves up. There was a contract made between the union and Spirit Airlines which states that they would double the salary of the cabin crews.

The majority of the airlines have mentioned that their crew members are ill due to the Omicron variant and some of them are under isolation or quarantine as they are having symptoms of the COVID-19.
