Brookline teacher charged for sexually assaulting students

In Brookline, a former Massachusetts teacher was apprehended on Monday the night to face charges in connection with the numerous sexual assaults against a student that took place over the course of about two years.

The Brookline police mentioned in the statement Larry Chen from Newton, who has been a teacher in Brookline from 2013 to his resignation in 2018. The police officer stated the sexual assaults happened in a classroom at the Health School in Brookline.

As per the officials, the accuser was a student of Chen. She was 12-year-old when the abuse started.

Moreover, the police noted, “The victim disclosed that her social studies teacher had sexually assaulted for two school years, beginning when she was in 6th grade and lasting until the end of 7th grade.”

Chen was charged with about 18 counts of statutory rape of a child, 18 counts of indecent assault as well as the, battery on a child and 18 counts of rape of a child with force.

Along with this, the police expressed that Chen operates an active tutoring business called the School Beyond School LLC.

Meanwhile, at the time of an arraignment Tuesday afternoon, Chen’s bail was set at $10,000. If he posts bail, he will be needed to wear a GPS monitoring device as well as stay away from the school, the victim as well as anyone under age of 18.
