Brooklyn, New York City– Police officials have responded to a brutal shooting claiming the life of a 12-year-old boy, and injuring a woman.
The incident took place near East 56th Street and Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 31.
Moreover, they mentioned that a 12-year-old boy, a 20-year-old woman along with an 8-year-old girl were in the car after they were pulling over to eat food when the shooting started.
Both the individuals were at the age of a 12-year-old boy and a 20-year-old when the woman was struck by the gunfire.
According to the officials, the boy was shot in the head and was declared dead on the spot when the incident took place.
Along with this, the woman was shot three times as well as she was taken to a local hospital, where she got treatment and underwent surgery. She is expected to survive.
The police officials mentioned that there was also an 8-year-old girl in the back seat of the car. It has been observed that she is fine and not injured.
The relationship between the victims is still not clear. The investigators are working on the case, and the police are looking for the two black sedans that have escaped the crime scene.
Meanwhile, the NYPD is investigating if two other cars were shooting at each other as well as they stated that these were innocent victims that were caught in that crossfire.
Additionally, Mayor Eric Adams visited the scene for the duration of the night.
Adams asserted in the statement, “The question I continue to ask, what about the innocent people? What about people sitting in their cars who are shot and killed?”
“We hear so much about those about those who are fighting, but when are we going to start fighting for the innocent people of this city?”
The motive of the incident is still not clear yet.
