Florida man, proven guilty of attempting to attract juvenile over internet

Miami, Florida A 38-year-old man named Zachary S. Spiegel Jensen Beach has been discovered by the federal jury in Fort Pierce, convicted of attempting to attract a juvenile over the internet.

Spiegel spoke online and by text message with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl called Shayla for several weeks in January of this year, according to evidence produced at trial. In truth, “Shayla” was a made-up character invented by a 16-year-old kid who was attempting to identify local child predators.

Moreover, on January 9, Spiegel tried to get Shayla to meet him at a Fort Pierce shopping complex parking lot for sex in his car. Spiegel gave Shayla images of his erect penis as well as vivid descriptions of the sex activities he planned to perform on her.

Along with this, both of them consented to a time and place for the meeting, but the 38-year-old was not able to come. Spiegel subsequently stated to Shayla that he was pulled over for speeding by law enforcement agents on his way to their meeting, so he returned home.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old kid reported the incident to the authorities.

Afterward, Spiegel was continuously communicating with a person he thought was the 14-year-old juvenile.

He constantly shared sexually explicit comments, shared several pictures of his face and penis as well as had a word related to the meeting with her.

However, the law enforcement investigation directed the officers to Spiegel.

On January 20, the officers executed a search warrant at his home (Jensen Beach). They discovered him in the custody of the mobile phone through which he used to talk to the 14-year-old.

Furthermore, on May 23, at 9:30 a.m., the U.S. District Court Judge named Paul C. Huck is going to sentence to ten years to life in federal prison. Spiegel will be prosecuted in federal court in Fort Pierce.
