New York offers second booster dose against COVID through vaccination sites

The Governor of New York named, Kathy Hochul, made an announcement on Saturday that the second dose of the booster shots against the variant of COVID-19 is being provided at the New York City mass vaccination locations for the individuals who are eligible for it.

In the previous week, the federal government has approved second COVID-19 booster shots for the age group of 50 and above and for those individuals who are immunocompromised. The state is obeying all of those guidelines that are imperative for the distribution of the shots.

Moreover, Hochul mentioned in the statement, “Getting vaccinated and staying up-to-date with all recommended doses is the most effective way to put a full stop on severe illness and hospitalization, and move safely forward through this pandemic.”

As per the state website, the individuals that are eligible and want to get the shot can book the appointment online. The state has 13 mass vaccination sites, such as the Art and Home Center at the New York State Fairgrounds.

In addition, from Monday to Saturday, the fairgrounds site is open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to noon on Sundays.

The officials have mentioned that the appointments for the booster shots at the fairgrounds are available at several local pharmacies.

Furthermore, the people who are suitable will may get an mRNA vaccine, and it can be either Moderna vaccine or Pfizer for the second booster shot against the variant of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The age group of 50 and older can get a second booster at least four months after their first booster. On the other hand, individuals aged 18 to 49 who had already received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for their primary vaccine and initial booster dose can now get the second dose after four months of the consumption of the first booster dose.

The age group of 12 and older who are moderate to severely immunocompromised can also get the second booster dose against COVID.
