California: Missing Jolissa Fuentes’ parents share disappointment over lack of updates

United States: The family of Jolissa Fuentes, a missing California woman, says they are “heartbroken” by the lack of information on the hunt for their daughter and what seems to be minimal media coverage of the case compared to other missing people cases.

According to the Selma police officials, the 22-years-old was last seen on August 7 at an AM-PM gas station in Selma, California, at about 4 a.m, but the police Chief Rudy Alcaraz shared the information on Friday that they have footage of Fuentes driving by herself after that time.

He mentioned in the statement, “We picked her up on the camera after that. However, we are not going to relinquish that information, as we…. have to kind to consider all avenues. Right now, there is nothing that is insinuating fou play, but, again, we don’t have much information.”

Along with this, the Selma Police Department has partnered with the Fresno Sheriff’s Office to use some of their resources, such as helicopters, to help with their research.

The Federal law enforcement officers are also involved, as per the Alcaraz and Fuentes’ families. Still, they have received no definite leads regarding the 22-year-old’s whereabouts in the two weeks since she disappeared.

In addition, her family believes that she may have driven out to a rural area east of Selma, where there are orchards and vineyards because Jolissa used to spend time there to clear her head after one of her best friends died in the previous year.

On the night when she disappeared, she had come home after a party and stopped at her grandmother’s home to grab some cash and a bag before heading to AM-PM.

Since she was last spotted, they claim Jolissa hasn’t been in touch with anyone and hasn’t picked up her phone, which is quite uncommon for her.

Police are currently conducting searches at Pine Flat Lake and Avocado Lake, according to Alcaraz.

In the meantime, Jolissa’s parents, Norma Nunez and Joey Fuentes wake up every morning to carry out their own searches for their daughter. They post fliers and inquire with locals if anybody has security cameras they can check. They have previously stated that they think Jolissa was abducted against her will.
