Texas Nurse charged with six counts of murder in deadly LA crash

LOS ANGELES:  The driver is suspected of causing a blazing crash that killed six people, including a pregnant woman, on  Monday. According to the LA county district attorney’s office, the driver is Nicole Lorraine Linton, who was charged with six murders and five counts of vehicular manslaughter.

She could face 90 years of prison if convicted of all charges. Nicole Lorraine Linton, a 37-year-old nurse from Houston, Texas, was jailed on Monday after being discharged from a hospital on the weekend.

It was still unclear whether she had an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

Prosecutors said Linton was driving her Mercedez Benz 144 kph last Thursday when it ran a red light and knocked into cars in a crowded intersection in Windsor hills, about 16 km southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Several victims were thrown out of the cars, and multiple vehicles caught fire.

Sha’seana Kerr said in a GoFundMe posting that this fiery crash killed 23-year-old Ashley Ryan, her 11-month-old son Alonzo Quintero and her boyfriend, Reynold Lester.

Lester’s family told KABC-TV that the 24-year-old security guard was the father of Ryan’s two-month-old unborn child. Ryan’s family said he was on his way to a doctor’s appointment for a prenatal check-up when she was killed.

George Gascon, district attorney, said in a press conference that the young family was destroyed in the blink of an eye. Two other women were also killed in this deadly crash, but their names weren’t published as of Monday.

Gascon said the wreckage of this deadly crash at the intersection was taken away, and traffic was resumed; there is catastrophic damage to the families and friends of those killed and injured.

As per reports, the Authorities said they hadn’t found any evidence that Clinton was under the influence, but the prosecutors said she had a history of dangerous crashes and knew the threat posed by her driving skills.
