Two buses carrying migrants from Texas arrive in Chicago

United States: About two buses carrying migrants from Texas arrived in Chicago, United States of America, on Wednesday night.

The buses reached the Union Station of Chicago at about 7:30 p.m., carrying the migrants who crossed the southern border illegally.

An estimated about 80 to 100 individuals were in the buses, which included about 20-30 small children. Most of the migrants mentioned in the statement that they are from Venezuela

Moreover, Chicago is the latest city where migrants have been used from Texas, following New York City and Washington, D.C., all of which have Democrat mayors.

The governor of Texas, from the Republican Party- Greg Abbott, mentioned in the statement that he is looking forward to meeting Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who welcomes the migrants since Chicago is a sanctuary city.

Additionally, Abbott stated in the statement that “President Biden’s inactivity at our southern border is overwhelming our towns and continuing to put the lives of Texans—and Americans—at danger.”

“As a new drop-off point, Chicago will join the nearby sanctuary cities of Washington, D.C., and New York City in assisting our underserved border communities with much-needed support.

In addition, Chicago has been designated as a “drop-off destination,” according to a statement from Abbott’s office “for migrant buses in the future as a result of President Biden’s open border policies, engulfing border towns in the state.

A representation from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office stated that Abbott is “without any shame or humanity.”

“Unfortunately, Texas Governor Greg Abbott lacks compassion and shame. However, since he instituted these discriminatory expulsion measures, we have been working with our neighbourhood partners to get the city ready to welcome these people.
