Five teens arrested after woman killed at San Antonio Airbnb, mistakenly targeted

United States: After a lady was fatally shot at a San Antonio Airbnb that was unintentionally targeted and shot with roughly 100 bullets in a drive-by shooting, five teenagers have been detained, according to authorities.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Novita Brazil, 25, was using her computer in her bedroom at Bald Mountain Drive, in San Antonio when the house came under heavy fire, according to the sources.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 41-year-old woman who was staying at the house as an Airbnb guest was hurt in the attack and briefly hospitalised.

Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that the perpetrators “struck the incorrect home during the drive-by shooting.”

According to the information provided by the sources, deputies cruising the neighbourhood heard gunshots and saw a car “fleeing the area at a fast speed.”

Along with this, two teenagers, ages 14 and 15, were detained after a brief chase and were charged with murder as well as/ aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.

The 14-year-old was charged with eluding arrest on foot, while the 15-year-old was additionally accused of using a car without permission.

Salazar said of the teenagers, “I don’t think they’re expressing any remorse whatsoever.”

According to the sources, three more teenagers were detained on Friday, including Johnny Bermea, 17, who was charged with felony lethal behaviour with a firearm.

Two further teenagers, ages 14 and 15, were accused of engaging in lethal firearm activity. The names of the four underage teenagers that were detained are unknown.

At the time of the incident, the three suspects “had discharged a handgun, impacting various dwellings and inflicting property damage,” Salazar added.

The getaway car had been stolen, the police found.

The sheriff declared that he thought the firearms had probably been taken from a vehicle.

Furthermore, he mentioned in the statement, “It is just so easy for criminals to get ahold of guns nowadays.”
