Texas mother Scares off burglar that broke into her home

A mother from Texas scared off a burglar that broke into her home. She locked herself and her kids in a bedroom and fired on him, as per the sources.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra informed the media that “you have the right to defend yourself in your own house against an invader” and praised the mother for defending her family and property. “She probably feared for her life. She, therefore, took the necessary action, and we are behind her.”

Just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, officers from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an active burglary in a rural area of Edinburg. Authorities claim that the unnamed woman locked herself and her children in a bedroom when a suspect named Carlos Garcia broke into the house through the garage.

Garcia, 36, allegedly attempted to enter the bedroom where the family was hiding.

“Garcia was informed by the homeowner that the police had been summoned and that she was armed. Garcia continued to try to enter the bedroom and refused to leave, so the homeowner fired once through the door.

Garcia left the residence. “The burglary was documented on Facebook by the sheriff’s office.

Authorities discovered Garcia after a search of the neighbourhood, some 100 yards from the house, with a gunshot wound to the left arm. The sheriff’s office said on Facebook that he had received a clean medical report and had been booked for Burglary of Habitation with Intent into the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.

Guerra said, “You don’t have to provide notice; if someone is breaking into your home, you have the right to defend yourself and use lethal force, and you’re not going to run into any issues with the sheriff of Hidalgo County.”

According to a sheriff’s office update, Garcia’s bond was set at $750,000.
