Virginia: Suspect detained after eight people injured near James Madison University campus

United States: A suspect has been taken into custody following a shooting that happened early on Sunday morning in Harrisonburg, Virginia, close to the James Madison University campus, injuring eight persons. Everyone is anticipated to live, according to officials.

Multiple bullets were fired at a crowd during an outdoor gathering close to the JMU campus at around 2:20 in the morning, according to a statement from Harrisonburg police in Virginia. According to authorities, eight patients, aged 18 to 27, were hospitalised with non-life-threatening wounds.

Moreover, the city of Harrisonburg tweeted on Sunday that police had detained a suspect, identified as 20-year-old Tyreaf Isaiah Fleming, on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding, firearm possession by a felon, and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony.

The victims “are not actively registered students,” according to James Madison University Police Chief Anthony Matos, but it is nonetheless vital to keeping them in your thoughts while they recuperate.
